Citizens State Bank Proudly Announces the "Marilyn Menning Accounting Scholarship"
The staff & directors of Citizens State Bank have proudly announced the establishment of the “Marilyn Menning Accounting Scholarship” at Northwest Iowa Community College in honor of Cashier, Marilyn Menning’s 50 years of service (thus far) at Citizens State Bank. Rob Dixon, Chairman & CEO of Citizens State Bank, along with Aletha Stubbe, President of NWICC presented Marilyn with a certificate announcing the $500 scholarship (to be awarded annually) established by CSB in her honor at an open house celebrating Marilyn’s 50 years (so far) of service held on Friday, June 5, 2016. Rob Dixon, CEO said,
“Marilyn is the ideal employee that every employer needs and hopes for - dedicated, hard- working, never complaining. Marilyn has shown remarkable resilience over her 50 years with us as she's matured and adapted as needed in continuing to perform her job well in spite of technology and regulations that are constantly changing. The NCC scholarship honoring Marilyn seemed like a very fitting tribute that would perpetuate the valuable example of her years of service here at Citizens State Bank. It also honors and recognizes the fact that Marilyn was a member of the first NCC graduating class in accounting and business 50 years ago in 1966.
Robert J. (Rob) Dixon Honored with the R.D. Dixon Founders Award
Citizens State Bank’s Chairman & CEO, Robert J. (Rob) Dixon was honored at the 2016 Community Bankers of Iowa Convention as the recipient of the R.D. Dixon Founders Award. The award, established in 2003, is given to a CBI member banker nominated by his or her peers in recognition of outstanding contributions to the community banking industry. Rob Dixon (pictured here with wife, Bonnie Dixon and daughter, Heidi Brown, EVP at Citizens State Bank) was presented the award after the following comments were made by Gus Barker, President of Community Bank of Oelwein:
"Recipients of the Robert D. Dixon Founders’ Award embody the commitment and devotion to their fellow bankers, their communities, and their industry. They are representative of the best in our industry. The recipient of the 2016 Robert D. Dixon Founders’ award, has been a community banker for 40 years…and was “learning the trade” long before that as he worked summers in high school and college in the family’s bank, doing everything from janitorial tasks to working on the teller line. Although he almost pursued a different path, my friend returned to his family bank after college and serving in the US Army.
"In addition to now leading two banks, my friend is active in the communities he serves. In 1984, he was active in fundraising for a community ambulance and established an ambulance service there. Currently, he serves on the Sheldon Regional Airport Commission, the Northwest Iowa Health Center Foundation Board, was a volunteer for the hospital’s $2.5 million capital fund raising drive, he is a member of the Sheldon Noon Kiwanis, The United Methodist church (where he has served multiple times as Chairman of the Finance Committee) and was involved singing with a group of Methodist men in a group called the Circuit Riders. He has also served on the County Condemnation Board and The Northwest Iowa Community College Foundation.
"My friend has served as a director with CBI since 2008 and feels strongly that the lobbying efforts the group does are of key importance to giving bank members a voice.
"This banker grew up understanding the importance of the role of banks in their communities - Live in, worship in, be involved in, shop in…SUPPORT your local community! He passed that same lesson on to his own children , who are now involved with the family banks: Heidi Brown (Executive Vice President at Citizens State Bank in Sheldon) & Rob W. Dixon (who serves on the Board at the Rolfe State Bank). Please join me in congratulating the recipient of the 2016 R.D. Dixon Founders Award, my good friend, Robert J. Dixon."
